Welcome! This blog is a long time coming… some might say I have been waiting a lifetime to write it… some may say it’s 16 years in the making… all I know is I have to write and get these thoughts out in the world because of joy. Whether you know me, know my family, knew joy, know about spina bifida or just enjoy reading – my hope is that this weekly “in touch” will be encouraging, inspirational and possibly even challenging to each of you.
Why am I motivated to do this today? Because of Joy!
My daughter, Joy, was only on earth for a short time, but she was instrumental in changing the course of my life and my passion. This month she would have turned 16 – yes 16 years old. Wow! My life would surely be different with a 16 year old girl living in my house (all you moms with teenage daughters just giggled a little at me I’m sure). My house is run on a lot of testosterone & a lot of coffee! I have the most wonderful husband in the world (good lookin’ too) and two “adult” sons. No Sweet Sixteen or Pretty in Pink at my house. I have a hard time picturing it, but even so I feel like it’s missing.
My life has a hole… it’s a “not quite complete feeling”. Not because I’m not happy nor because I’m unable to feel content or accomplished but because something isn’t finished. It’s almost an anticipation of what needs to be.
I hope you enjoy my letters to my sweet girl and I hope it inspires you to communicate with your loved ones, but most of all – my biggest wish is that you will experience true joy.
~ love Julie
